Dr. Xin Li received her PhD in Physiology from Rutgers University and is currently a tenured Professor at the New York University College of Dentistry. Her research has focused on the interplay between metabolism, the microbiome and inflammation in physiological and pathological conditions. Using a combination of metagenomics, metabolomic and molecular approaches, her group recently revealed that succinate signaling plays a central role in inflammation associated with periodontitis, neurodegeneration, and aging. She has published several well-cited research articles on the regulatory mechanisms of bone remodeling, cancer growth and metastasis, and endocrinology. Her group is currently funded by the NIH and DoD. We would like to inform everyone that we will be hosting Dr. Xin Li our invited speaker for this month. Dr. Li's talk, "Succinate Regulates Microglial Function and Neuroinflammation", will be presented on Tuesday, March 21 in the Darner Conference Room (Turner Building, G007). The scheduled start time is 4:00 PM EST.
